LoveWorks: Gifts That Save

1 John 3:16-19 and Matthew 15:29-39

In this series on LoveWorks, we pick up the power of giving to enhance relationships. This is also Mother’s Day. The theme today is that there is a power in giving—seen mostly in God’s giving of His Son to be our Savior. We shall be seeing what is special about giving, the power in gifts to grow relationships, the uniqueness of gifts in various settings, and the thought that all giving in relationships is ultimately the giving of self.

LoveWorks: All Mine to Give

John 13:1-9 and Galatians 5:13-15

Some acts, good or bad, change things forever. We have the chance to change things in the lives of others by what we do. God has changed us through the redemptive acts of Christ.  Jesus’ washing of the disciple’s feet shows Him changing lives by teaching service.

LoveWorks: Immediacy that Heals

John 9:1-7, 35-38 and Acts 28:1-10

Jesus showed His love for people in so many ways. One of the ways was to be close to those He cared about and even touching them when He healed them. He desires to relate to us as a complete person. We see this desire in the sacraments. Through water, bread and wine, God not only reaches out with His Word, but with smell, taste, sight and touch. In this way, we know His love is all encompassing. He shares His very self with our whole being for the forgiveness of our sins.
