Thanksgiving Eve Worship Food Drive

In the past five years, our worship service on Thanksgiving Eve has included a food drive. Each year, the sanctuary was filled with bags of food to help feed hundreds of men, women and children who would go hungry without these donations. These worship services were filled with a special joy and a strong sense of the Holy Spirit, especially when everyone came forward to pick up the bags to load the trucks and cars to deliver the food. Last year Spirit of Hope soup kitchen and Community Lutheran in Flat Rock received equal shares of the donated food. The amount of food that volunteers loaded at St. Paul and unloaded at both locations overwhelmed their workers. They believed that the donated food would help feed the needy for months. On their behalf I want to thank everyone who participated in these drives.

On November 23, we will hold the sixth annual Thanksgiving Eve Worship Food Drive. The food bags will be available beginning November 5 from our Information Center. This year the bags collected will again be split equally between The Spirit of Hope soup kitchen and Community Lutheran’s food pantry in Flat Rock. Community, a church that St. Paul planted, has put together a great program to serve those in need in the downriver area.

In the past share groups and families used this opportunity to serve God together (sometimes in the rain) and we had a great time doing so. This year we will need lots of volunteers to help deliver the bags of food to both locations. Please consider signing up to help serve this year. It’s a great way to serve Christ’s Church, as a family.

Thank you again for what you have done the last five years. Thank you in advance for sharing and serving again this year. If you need more information call Jack at the Church Office at 734-676-1565.
