Caring Ministries
God's vision is that His Church wouldn't be a collection of people, but a connection of people-one to another. "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." Matthew 13:14-15. Call (734) 676-1565 if you would like information or want to be part of any of these ministries.
Christmas Caring Tree
Once a year at Christmas time we give our St. Paul members a chance to provide gifts to those in need. Find the true Spirit of Christmas by participating in this project, which serves not only our members, but others in the Detroit (Southwest Mission) area. By selecting a card from our “Caring Tree” you will help provide gifts and food to those that might otherwise receive nothing. The tree is always ready the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and all gifts need to be returned at a specified date in early December. If you know of someone who could use our help, contact Jack Scola.
Fish & Loaves
Meals will be provided for members that are temporarily unable to prepare their own food and have no adult or able family to help them. We have many members who have offered to serve in this ministry as providers of meals.
Hospital & Homebound
St. Paul provides ongoing care and/or visitation to all members and loved ones who are physically unable to be present at St. Paul for worship, programs, and activities. Contact the Church Office if you know of someone who needs care and/or support.
Parish Nurses
A volunteer core group of nurses meet monthly to assess the health needs of our congregation and plan programs to meet those needs. Programs such as Health Fairs, CPR Training, Walking, and Blood Pressure Screening are some of the projects they are presently working on. Their goal is to someday have a part-time Parish Nurse on staff. Contact the Jack Scola if you would like to be part of this ministry or have ideas as to how we can better meet the physical needs of our members and the community. More Information.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Members of the congregation knit shawls together with the “Love of Jesus” and then dedicate them to a person that is in need of support and prayer. The recipient is then continually reminded that they are wrapped in the arms of Jesus and loved by many from His Church.
Stephen Ministry
The goal of St. Paul’s Stephen Ministry is to provide one-on-one Christian care to those who are experiencing difficult and challenging life situations. Stephen Ministers are volunteer members of the church specially trained to listen, support, and pray with you. For information about receiving the care of a Stephen Minister or about being trained as a Stephen Minister, contact Pastor Bush.
Support Groups
Periodically groups are formed to help people going through a difficult time in life. We presently have or support Alzheimer's, Grief Programs, Depression Groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous. More Information.
